It is a genuine occupational requirement for this position to be fi lled by an Aboriginal person or Torres Strait Islander person, as permitted byandarguable under, Sections 25, 104 and 105 of the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Act 1991. The Queensland Museum is the custodian of the state's First Nations Ancestral Remains, Secret Sacred Objects, and cultural materials, which are cared for by the Museum at the request of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. The Queensland Museum has been actively repatriating Ancestral Remains and cultural material to First Nations communities across Australia since the 1990s. We are looking to expand our repatriation team to meet increasing demands.
We are seeking a motivated Research Assistant to support the Museum's repatriation initiatives. Join our passionate team committed to facilitating the return of Ancestral Remains and cultural material home to First Nations communities. As Research Assistant, Repatriation you will work closely with the Senior Manager, Repatriation, First Nations communities, museums, government agencies, and other stakeholders. You will undertake research to establish provenance of Ancestral Remains, Secret Sacred Objects and cultural materials, and provide administrative support to facilitate the repatriation process.

To perform this role it is essential that the person is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991
