The Opportunity: This role supports research projects in the Brain Health Program, which brings together researchers across multiple disciplines to develop the evidence, tools and treatments for diseases such as stroke and dementia, which account for 10% of the global burden of disease.
The Research Assistant is required to support the research and advocacy work of the Brain Health Program, primarily supporting a new project to assess the feasibility of a novel diagnostic method to treat patients with intracerebral haemorrhage in the pre-hospital ambulance setting, to be conducted in Australia in collaboration with similar projects in China, Germany, Canada, and other countries. Support of other clinical trial stroke research projects may also be required.
Key Responsibilities and Duties: Collating study materials and drafting copy for peer-reviewed journal articles relating to the above work Provide administrative and technical support to study team Conduct literature searches and assist with the preparing of grant applications Assist with ethics applications and documentation Communicate with study sites and respond to queries Assist with study tracking and documentation Assist in the distribution of study documents to investigators Assist with planning and organising of regular meetings Assist with the preparation of study-related presentation materials Assist with maintain up to date participating centres' information (including all contact details, contracts and reports) Data entry, ensuring data quality, accuracy, completeness and timeliness of data completion Preparing paperwork required by the study and any study materials Assist in managing effective communication with the key stakeholders (participants, clinicians and investigators) Assist with the preparation of reports and publications about the study as required Actively participate in project, research and program meetings As we are a global organisation, engage with colleagues and stakeholders in other regions relative to the responsibilities of the role, accommodating global time zones where required, to ensure seamless communication and collaboration. Our Successful Candidate will possess: Essential Tertiary qualifications in medicine, medical science or related healthcare discipline Experience in clinical trials Experience in quantitative research methodologies Strong quantitative research skills Excellent written language communication skills and ability to draft a wide range of documents Excellent organisational skills, having the ability to organise, take initiative and follow up independently Excellent interpersonal skills to foster collaborations across a range of health professional stakeholders Methodical and systematic, with good attention to detail Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and the Internet Ability to be flexible and adaptable in the face of changing organisational priorities Strong focus on quality of work. Flexibility to work non-standard hours of work for collaboration and contact with global teams based on requirements of the position Desirable Experience working in acute hospital and / or ambulance setting Experience in stroke and /or neurology Post graduate qualifications in medical science or healthcare discipline Proficient in Chinese Mandarin language to facilitate harmonisation of protocols with colleagues in China For more information please see our detailed Position Description visiting the link below:
