In this position, the Research Assistant will join a successful translational research group at the forefront of paediatric cancer research. They will work closely with senior post-doctoral scientists and research assistants in our team to investigate novel combination therapies for improving the treatment of children with high-risk neuroblastoma. The Research Assistant will take primary responsibility for performing in vivo drug efficacy studies in immune competent and immune compromised pre-clinical models. We require the candidate to have experience in animal work and experience in cellular and molecular biology techniques is highly desirable.
Responsibilities in this role include: Designing, conducting, analysing, and interpreting high-quality experiments, including but not limited to, in vivo drug efficacy studies in immune competent and immunocompromised models of neuroblastomaCollating, organising and presenting experimental resultsAssisting in the development, maintenance, and validation of new research modelsParticipation in the day-to-day running of the laboratoryMaintaining laboratory records and inventoriesContributing to application for and adherence to regulatory approvalProducing or contributing to high quality publicationsContributing to innovations and refinements to experimental approaches and assist in establishing new techniques To succeed you will have… Tertiary qualifications in medical science, science or medicinePrevious experience working in an animal research laboratory (handling, monitoring and treatments)Ability to design and conduct experiments independently and as a team memberHigh level technical and analytical skillsA high degree of professionalism and respect for othersCommitment to ethical conduct of experiments involving humans, animals, and GMOsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsWe will support you to be your best with benefits that include but are not limited to: Access to our 'FlexBEST' program – true flexibility from day 1Focus on employee wellbeing, including a leading EAP program, and up to 5 gifted wellbeing days off (paid) per yearInvestment in leadership development and career advancement opportunitiesJoin a group of dedicated people in a performance-driven environment to achieve success and discover what it's like to look forward to coming to work every day and make a real difference.
