Part Time Opportunity (0.4FTE/ 2 Days per week)Moree, NSW2 Year Fixed Term ContractHybrid working environment Pro-Rata Salary Range of $79,099 to $86,000 Base (dependent on experience, skills and capabilities) plus 11% Superannuation + Smart Salary Packaging Benefit This is an Identified Position for an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander PersonThe Opportunity: Our Guunu-maana (Heal) Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Program at The George Institute drives meaningful and ethical research and advocacy to transform the health and wellbeing of First Nations peoples and communities. Guunu-maana is led through Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing, being and doing to generate evidence that privileges Indigenous knowledges through actions that empower communities and people. This Research Assistant position will support research activities for the Dance for Kids Project in Moree. The role will specially assist with the delivery of dance classes, data collection and record keeping. The Research Assistant will be required to work collaboratively with the larger team.Our successful applicant will actively recruit Aboriginal and/ or Torres Strait Islander children who are disadvantaged or living out of home care, carers of children enrolled in the dance classes and Aboriginal Education Officers at the child's school. Data will be collected throughout the project. Key Responsibilities and Duties: Support research activities in collaboration with teamEffectively produce and maintain project dataCommunicate effectively with internal and external study staff and key stakeholdersAdhere to all study protocols and participate in protocol training sessions as requiredAdhere to safety policies and study SOPs, as outlined by The George InstituteAdhere to the workplace policies and procedures of individual hospital study sites, as requiredAttend study team meetings and appropriately always represent The George Institute and the study while located at community sitesOther tasks as directed by the senior investigative team Our Successful Candidate is: Understanding of health and wellbeing for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoplesExcellent communication skillsHas background knowledge in danceExcellent organisational skills, having the ability to organise, take initiative and follow up independentlyProficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and the InternetAbility to be flexible and adaptable in the face of changing organisational prioritiesAbility to work well within a research team and excellent interpersonal skillsStrong focus on quality of work
