About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated researcher to contribute to groundbreaking metabolomics projects addressing coral climate change adaptation and human pathogen drug targets. Working in a dynamic and supportive team environment, you will be part of a small, focused coral research group within a larger, collaborative team in medical research. With access to state-of-the-art mass spectrometry platforms and abundant resources, you'll have the chance to learn and apply cutting-edge techniques, guided by experienced staff. Your responsibilities will include:
Conducting metabolomics research focused on host-symbiont and host-pathogen interactions, including sample preparation, data analysis, and the development of analytical workflows.
Contributing to the preparation of research publications, proposals, and reports, while maintaining accurate data and laboratory records.
Supporting the training and mentoring of research students and assisting with the maintenance of laboratory instruments and resources.
Collaborating within a dynamic team environment to achieve project milestones and actively contributing to a culture of innovation and excellence.
Who We Are Looking For
We're seeking a collaborative and adaptable researcher with a strong analytical mindset, motivated by the opportunity to contribute to innovative metabolomics projects and thrive in a supportive team environment. You will possess strong organisational and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
You will also have:
Level A1- A5: Degree/Degree with BSc Honours or Masters or equivalent with a major in Biochemistry or a related discipline, or
Level A6: PhD with a major in Biochemistry or a related discipline or more than 5 years relevant experience in analytical chemistry and biochemical assays
Analytical skills with experience in biological mass spectrometry (e.g., metabolomics, lipidomics, or proteomics), chromatographic techniques, and handling large datasets

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
