The candidate will take an active partin multiple aspects of the program including animal and primary tissueprocessing, high-throughput drug screens and CRISPR screens as well asassisting with the overall direction of the program.
Typicalactivities for this role include:
· Tissue culture of cell lines and generation of cell line knockoutclones
· Performing lab duties such as tissue culturing (experience withorganoid cultures is a plus), functional genomics (e.g., drug screening andCas9/CRISPR), and molecular biology techniques (e.g., RNA/DNA extractions,plasmid cloning, PCR).
· Participating in the development and implementation of technical knowledgefor project-specific purposes.
· Assisting in animal studies, including genotyping and tissueanalysis.
· Contributing to the management of lab databases to ensure allrecords are up to date.
· Ensuring a consistently well-organized work area and activelyparticipating in aliquoting reagents for communal lab use.
· Participating in the weekly stock take of laboratory consumablesand reagents.
· Participating in collecting consumable stocks, and reagents andplacing orders as required.
· Assisting and contributing to data generation for research andpublications.
· Maintaining a detailed laboratory notebook to demonstrateadherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), protocols and safetyguidelines.
· Engaging in campus culture, including participating inprofessional development activities and attending internal/external campusconferences and seminars.
SELECTION CRITERIA The role will suit someone who has: A Bachelor of Science Degree with Honours or 1-2years of laboratory experience An equivalent combination of relevant experienceand education/training1 or more years of experience in tissue cellculture and molecular biology techniquesExperience conceptualising, developing andreviewing technical aspects of projects and making recommendationsThe ability to translate research strategy intomeaningful long-term plans and objectives Experience in technical planning and implementation The ability to initiate and maintain effectiverelationships with various stakeholders EMPLOYMENT TERMS This position is a fixed term contract role in a full time capacity. Salary is based on ResearchSupport Group, RSS X/Y level (Junior Research Assistant/Research Assistant) dependenton experience. Superannuation of 11% and very attractive salary packagingoptions are available.
