The Opportunity: We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant/ Associate in our Food Policy Program. This role will be well suited to applicants willing to pursue a PhD.
Relating to food sustainability with a focus on how the complexities of the environmental impact of the food system and individual food products can be conveyed to the general public in particular.
Key Responsibilities and Duties: Collating study materials and drafting copy for peer-reviewed journal articles relating to the above workProvide administrative and technical support to the study teamSynthesise literature and contribute to systematic reviewsAssist with the preparation of grant applicationsAssist with ethics applications and documentationAssist with the preparation of advocacy documentationAssist with study tracking and documentationAssist in the distribution of study documents to investigatorsAssist with planning and organising regular meetingsAssist with the preparation of study-related presentation materialsData entry, ensuring data quality, accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of data completionPrepare paperwork required by the study and any study materialsAssist in managing effective communication with the key stakeholders (e.g., study participants, project investigators, and government and NGO representatives)Assist with the preparation of reports and publications as requiredOther tasks as directed by the senior investigator teamAd hoc project work as requiredSkills, Knowledge and Experience / Our Successful Candidate Tertiary qualifications in science, health, consumer research, or communications disciplineExperience in quantitative and/or qualitative research methodologiesExcellent written language communication skills and ability to draft a wide range of documentsExcellent organisational skills, having the ability to organise, take initiative, and follow up independentlyMethodical and systematic, with good attention to detailProficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OutlookAbility to be flexible and adaptable in the face of changing organisational prioritiesAbility to work well within a research team and excellent interpersonal skillsStrong focus on quality of workFlexibility to work non-standard hours of work for collaboration and contact with global teams based on requirements of the positionA desire to undertake a PhD in the area of food sustainability at the end of the contract period.To support your application, please address the following criteria in your cover letter:
