Research and Policy Officer - Research and EvaluationAustralian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership – Melbourne VIC
The Research and Policy Officer works within AITSL's Research and Evaluation team and will support the range of research and evaluation activities conducted by AITSL to improve the future of learning in Australia.
Working in a collaborative team environment, this role will assist the Research and Evaluation team to drive the evidence base of the organisation, translating evidence for policy and practice, and promoting evidence-based best practice to support transformation in teaching and school leadership in Australia.
What you'll be doing You will support the organisation by translating evidence for policy and practice, and promoting evidence-based best practice to contribute to excellence in teaching and school leadership.
The work will vary from day to day, and will involve:
Working with AITSL teams to support research and data collection, and data analysis and interpretation for tool development, and policy implementationCollating and summarising education research and evidence, and interpreting its implications for a range of audiences, including writing and editing evidence summariesApplying both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies to projects in AITSL, advising and building capacity in and across teams in research and evidence collection, and translating data and evidence to support the development of tools and resourcesContribute to AITSL's impact measurement strategy and approaches including the preparation of Program Logic and Outcome Frameworks and undertaking evaluations of AITSL's initiatives, policies, resources and/or tools.Preparing briefings, correspondence, reports, memos, recommendations, publications, presentations for meetings, web content, conferences and seminars based on literature, and data collation and review, as requiredAny other duties as directed by the Principal and consistent within the employee's skills and competence.What we're looking for We are looking for an active self-starter who can combine excellent technical research and data skills with enthusiasm and drive for building capacity in research and evaluation.
Our ideal candidate has a good understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, evaluation expertise and who is competent in using Excel and/or statistical analysis software (e.g.
SPSS).
Combining research skills with excellent writing, you will have the ability to synthesise and translate evidence and data into plain language.
You will be passionate about the education field, and skilled in supporting research and evaluation projects across the range of tasks, from data collection and coordination to analysis and interpretation of data into policy and practice implications.
You will be a confident communicator with the ability to assess the quality of evidence and advocate for best practice and improved outcomes.
