We are looking for a Research and Development Manager who will use their knowledge and skills in R&D and the coatings industry to provide leadership, innovation, and development expertise in our Decorative Research & Development Laboratory as we advance in our creative endeavors at Wattyl.
As the Research and Development Manager you will: Actively lead and direct all activities undertaken by the R&D laboratory, developing and improving product formulations of water-based paints. Take responsibility for ensuring, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety, and welfare at work of the members of the R&D Department. Facilitate the transfer of technology from other Hempel laboratories/market regions into Australia and New Zealand, ensuring technology being developed is capable of being produced commercially and supports manufacturing scale-up. Act as the Raw Material Coordinator for the ANZ region and facilitate raw material strategy for all Business Units. Oversee laboratory activities and ensure they are carried out in accordance with the Company's quality system accreditation, particularly the requirements of Design Control, NATA, and ISO9001, as well as facilitating and introducing Continuous Improvement initiatives within the business. Ensure technical input is given to projects across the business in cross-functional projects such as supply chain/finance, etc., and coordinate across ANZ. Provide leadership, training, and mentoring to laboratory staff to develop them into enthusiastic, competent Development Chemists and Project Leaders. In order to be considered you will have: A degree in Chemistry or a related science discipline. A minimum of 5 years' experience within the coatings or related industries.
