Research/Administrative Assistant to the Economic Section Embassy of Japan
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
Monitor public discourse of the Commonwealth Government and ParliamentSupport to strengthen Embassy's network with various stakeholdersAdvise the Economic Section on issues relevant to the Australian economy as well as trade and investment relations with JapanProvide support to diplomats for coordination with external entities, such as Australian Government and Japanese business enterprises Provide support to Japanese delegations visiting Australia Provide administrative and logistical support for Embassy events, such as receptions Undertake various research projects as requested by diplomats Assist other Economic Section staff as requiredDue to the nature of this role, this is a full-time, in-person position in Canberra with regular working hours of 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday.
Requirements for this position include:
Must have citizenship, permanent residency or a similar visa to work in Australia Bachelor's degree Superior verbal and written communication skills Superior research skills Comprehensive IT skills (Microsoft Office) Highly organised, motivated and flexible approach to assigned duties Ability to multitask, work independently, and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines Demonstrated capacity to promote Embassy work ethics Ability to work effectively in a team environment and promote a friendly, safe working environment for all staff Willingness to take on new tasks and challenges where required It would also be advantageous if the applicant has:
Experience researching policy-making in Australia or industry trends Experience working in a Japanese office environment and familiarity with Japanese language and culture Experience in event managementWorking knowledge of the Australian Parliament, including the procedure and functionsInterest in Japanese and Australian media reports on economic issues in relation to Japanese business and Japan-Australia bilateral relationshipNOTES:
This position is full-time commencing in January 2025 at the earliest (due to administrative requirements).
Salary is commensurate with experience.
