ABOUT THE OFFICE The Institute for Health Research (IHR) is one of three research institutes established by The University of Notre Dame Australia to provide leadership in collaborative research initiatives. The IHR has a vibrant research focus with strong industry links that seeks to improve the health and wellbeing of the community. They have diverse research teams working across health disciplines across university schools and in the wider health care system and community. Academics provide supervision of post-graduate research students and are involved in collaborative studies with other academic and clinical researchers. The IHR is distinctive for providing expertise in the design and analysis of complex health research supported by the Chair of Biostatistics.
ABOUT THE ROLE This position works in collaboration with Academic and Professional colleagues to provide effective and efficient research administrative support for the Institute for Health Research. Reporting to the Deputy Director, with general direction this position will oversee the administrative function within the Institute.
Key Responsibilities Provide coordination of and intellectual contribution to research activities within the Institute including supporting the Director and Deputy Director in research and administration activities. Assist IHR researchers with grant preparation and submission activities and other research activities as required Coordinate Institute activities including coordinate meetings, prepare minutes and manage correspondence. Compile and assist with reports, prepare correspondence, submissions, statistical summaries, data sets, Institute web pages and other materials as required. Assist the Director and/or their delegate with the management and review of policies, procedures, guidelines and forms. Contribute to building a lively research culture within the Institute. Qualifications, skills & experience A degree in health sciences (e.g. nursing, medicine, psychology, public health, health sciences, or broader science/health discipline), or an equivalent level of education and extensive relevant experience. Experience in coordination and/or administration of research activities. Highly developed interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships, engage and influence stakeholders, and work effectively as part of a team. Excellent organisational, analytical, administrative and time management skills, with strong attention to detail and the demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines. Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to prepare high-quality monthly, annual and ad hoc reports with a health research focus. Research skills or knowledge including data entry and management, ethics applications and reporting, grants, research management systems (e.g. IRMA). Proficiency in various software packages, including the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint). Demonstrated ability to source information relevant to research activities (e.g. policies, procedures, academic literature).
