Casual Research Administration Officer role within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences HEO6 Step 1 $68.08 per hour + 11.5% superannuation About the opportunity The Research Administration Officer provides administrative and operational support by coordinating and supporting research development programs and working on a range of projects to advance the faculty's distinctive research strategy, ensuring effective management of resources, facilitation of services and development of good governance practices. This includes supporting FASS Research with the planning, preparation and co-ordination of status reports; liaising with work-stream stakeholders and co-ordinate communications; and ensuring effective collaboration and teamwork within the Faculty's teams and stakeholders across the University.
Under the supervision of the Research Programs Administration Manager, the Research Administration Officer will exercise initiative and judgement in planning work activity, and resolve problems associated with day-to-day operating procedures directly linked to their key accountabilities to ensure the provision of efficient and effective services. They will work with a range of staff across the administrative team and in the wider University administration environment to meet work area objectives.
Your key responsibilities will be to: provide administrative services and operational support for the work of the Faculty research team
provide administrative and operational support for research development and research support programs
coordinate meetings and support with taking minutes during meetings
provide support for the use of enterprise systems, including Concur and Office 365
track and manage work progress using Excel spreadsheets
undertake ad hoc projects and other activities as required
About you excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with day-to-day operational matters
must possess excellent computer literacy skills in Microsoft Office & Excel with the ability to create complex spreadsheets and professional documents
must have experience in taking minutes during meetings
excellent time and workload management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise effectively, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and achieve required outcomes
ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work
Working knowledge of software systems such as IRMA, Concur, Workday, UniBuy and Content Management Systems (desirable)
any experience within research management or assisting in grant application work (desirable)
