Critical to the role are strong writing and communication skills, a nose for news, and a good work ethic. The successful applicant must be highly motivated and passionate about journalism. The ideal candidate will have tertiary qualifications in journalism or a similar field. Experience as a working journalist is preferred, but not essential. About the role Gathering and writing original news stories for publication in print and online platformsDeveloping positive relationships with key people and organisationsBreaking news stories and creating engaging contentInterviewing and photographing subjects confidently and professionallyLiaising with the Great Southern editor regarding story developmentRepresenting the company in a professional and courteous manner About You A passion for community journalism, strong work ethic and self-motivationHave an eagle-eye for detail and excellent copywriting skillsThe ability to work under high pressure and be flexible with work hours;Good interviewing, communication and writing skills;A sense of urgency and focus on deadlines; andA valid driver's licence.
