About the OrganisationNganampa Health Council is an Aboriginal-owned and controlled health organisation operating on the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands in the far northwest of South Australia.
Nganampa Health operates six major clinics and various health programs, including sexual health, environmental health, dental, women's health, chronic diseases, eye health, child health, and mental health.
The health service enjoys a strong national reputation for best-practice clinical services, leading-edge collaborative program research and development, and the use of outcome data for continuous evaluation.
The organisation's clinics are AGPAL-accredited, modern facilities staffed by a multidisciplinary team comprising Anangu Liaison, on-call support workers, and nurses, supported by program coordinators and experienced medical officers.
Nganampa Health Council is recognised as an exemplar of Aboriginal health services.
Its successes include reducing sexually transmitted infection rates, increasing birth weights through antenatal programs, and consistently maintaining childhood immunisation rates above 90%.
About the OpportunitiesNganampa Health Council is seeking clinic-based Registered Nurses and Registered Midwives (dual registration required) to join their dedicated teams in South Australia.
In these highly varied roles, you will deliver primary healthcare in accordance with the CARPA Standard Treatment Manual and assist in the early detection and management of chronic illness as part of a multidisciplinary team.
About YouWe are looking for experienced RNs or RN-Midwives passionate about equal quality care for all.
The ability to communicate and participate effectively within a cross-cultural, multi-disciplinary health team and a demonstrated understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal health will be beneficial.
Our successful candidates will: Be a Registered Nurse or an RN and Registered Midwife, registered with the National Board of Nursing and Midwifery.Have at least 3 years of post-graduation work experience, with recent acute medical/A&E exposure.Have demonstrated experience working in a clinical environment and hospital-based general nursing experience in the past 3 years (both of which are essential).Hold post-basic nursing qualifications in emergency care, advanced nursing, or rural/remote area nursing (desirable but not essential).Be highly computer literate, as health records are fully digital.Display strong cultural awareness and respect.Have advanced clinical skills and confidence in managing diverse patient presentations, including trauma, acute, and chronic conditions across all age groups.Midwives must have significant experience in acute general work within the past 5 years.
These positions are based in busy community clinics that are open from 9 am to 5:30 pm Monday to Friday.
Nurses do provide an after-hours on-call service, and you will require advanced nursing clinical skills including excellent clinical assessment skills and confidence in managing diversity in presentations - trauma, acute and chronic medical conditions - across all age groups.
The ability to work under Aboriginal management and control will be highly regarded, as will a demonstrated understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal health, the principles of Primary Health Care, and relevant legislation.
