Support Yolgnu Aboroginal culture and build stronger relationshipsProvide regular and ongoing access to health services in occupied homelandsAbove award salary with benefits such as salary sacrifice and housingWhy Marthakal Homelands Health Service?MHHS, situated on Galiwin'ku (Elcho Island), is a mobile Yolgnu Medical Service covering 15,000 square kilometers in the remote East Arnhem Land with a population between around 250. There are 29 homelands in the Marthakal Homelands region, for which the medical service is on 24 hours emergency call. Being a mobile medical service means that the health team travel in small planes and four-wheel drive vehicles to conduct clinics out on the homelands. What medical equipment can't be packed can't be taken, so compact sturdy anti shock equipment is used.What's in it for you?Excellent RN4 salary of $109,000 – $118,000 per annum and salary sacrificing optionsOn call allowance, annual bonus and 6 weeks' annual leaveAccommodation provided as well as freight and internet allowanceRelocation support for eligible candidatesFares out of isolated locations (FOIL) at least once every six monthsLive and work in a community steeped in traditions and cultureWhat's the role?Responding to health emergencies on Homelands in an effective and timely manner with an expected health outcomeUsing skills and knowledge to deliver quality health care and meet all legal obligationsSupporting and participating in all initiatives and change processes that aim to improve service deliveryIs the role right for you?A relevant tertiary qualification degree and current registration with AHPRAIdeally experience working and living in a remote Indigenous community, which is an alcohol free environmentDemonstrated ability to engage effectively and sensitively with Indigenous people for whom English is not their first languageDemonstrated ability and experience to work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team in a small, remote Aboriginal Controlled Health Service delivering primary and dental health careDemonstrated understanding and knowledge of social determinants of health issues affecting Aboriginal peopleAbility to undergo a successful Criminal History and Working with Children's Check, and gain/maintain a current NT Drivers LicenceWhat's it like living in Galiwin'ku (Elcho Island)?The advantages of living and working in remote East Arnhem Land are varied and interesting and provide a pathway to develop skills in chronic disease, tropical medicine, Aboriginal health and rural health, that could not be experienced in other regions of Australia.
