Our health centres service nine communities, operating from six clinics spread over 45,000 square kilometres in the Big Rivers region. The Sunrise footprint covers Aboriginal communities that have some of the most untouched beautiful landscapes to explore where the locals are welcoming and ready to share their culture.
Sunrise Health Service Aboriginal Corporation has a number of exciting opportunities for Registered Nurses and RNs with Midwifery qualifications to join their dedicated teams in remote communities within the Big Rivers region.

Some of your key responsibilities and performance indicators will include:
Working collaboratively with a dedicated team to provide primary health care, acute care, and accident and emergency care, as required;Treating acute illness and chronic medical conditions, and completing computerised recalls and patient follow-up care;Ensuring that programmed outstation visits are completed, and health checks/screenings are completed as required;Assessment and referral of social welfare issues; andProviding direction, guidance, training, and support for Aboriginal Health Workers in their everyday work.What You'll Need to Succeed:To be considered for these positions, you must be registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a registered nurse and/or midwife. A minimum of three years' remote area experience is preferred. Broad primary healthcare experience and advanced clinical skills will be highly regarded, and candidates with other experience may suit our environment. Candidates must be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of primary health care principles and be willing to apply these in a remote Aboriginal community setting.
Sunrise is seeking adaptable and flexible individuals who can display the initiative, discretion, and cultural sensitivity needed to support and drive the organisation's objectives and values. You should also be willing to communicate and participate effectively within a cross-cultural, multi-disciplinary health team.
Candidates who are open to change, open to learning more about Aboriginal health, and comfortable living in a cross-cultural and diverse Aboriginal community setting will be best suited to this position. You'll enjoy a varied role where no two days are the same, so resourceful and creative candidates who are seeking a rewarding role will be highly regarded.
The successful candidate must hold an Ochre card (or be willing to obtain), a valid Australian Driver's License with the ability to drive manual vehicles, a vaccination status that allows you to work with vulnerable people, and be willing to undergo a National Police check prior to commencing employment.
About the Area:Located about 200km south of Darwin, the Big Rivers region is one of the most diverse regional communities in the Northern Territory. At the heart of the region is Katherine (3 hours from Darwin), a major township and the fourth-largest settlement in the NT. Here, you can enjoy a budding creative scene across Museums and Galleries or enjoy a refreshing beverage and meal at the Katherine Club, a family community social club and award-winning restaurant that's open 7 days a week.
