Parramatta Marist High School is seeking a passionate and committed Religious Education Coordinator to join the team on a temporary full-time basis for the 2025 school year. This position may attract a current CSPD employee who is looking for a secondment opportunity.
About the opportunity: The role of (temporary) Religious Education Coordinator at Parramatta Marist encompasses a broad and integral set of responsibilities essential to nurturing and advancing the school's Catholic identity and Marist charism. The REC will play a pivotal role in building on the faith that is deeply embedded within the culture of the school, fostering an environment where spirituality, compassion, and a commitment to justice thrive. In addition, you will:
Ensure that the school delivers high quality contemporary learning and teaching for the community it serves which is embedded in the Catholic world viewLead a collaborative ministry of witness and service and part of the evangelising mission of the ChurchContribute a deep knowledge of the Religious Education curriculum and enhancing the liturgical, sacramental and spiritual life of the schoolBuild the necessary relationships with the Parish Priest, parents, learning community, Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese, Marist Schools Australia and other partners contributing to the work of Catholic schoolingCreate and maintain a safe, inclusive and challenging learning environmentAbout you (selection criteria): Deep understanding of Catholic teachings, traditions, and the ability to inspire faith and moral growth within the school.Strong commitment to fostering the Marist values of humility, simplicity, and presence, so these values are lived daily across the community.Demonstrated experience in delivering and leading the new Religious Education curriculum, adapting it to incorporate the PBL model of instruction through integration with English and History in the Junior years and problem-based learning in the senior yearsAbility to organise and lead spiritual formation activities, including retreats, workshops, prayer, and school-wide faith events.Willingness to manage a variety of ministries within the school, such as Diocesan events, twilight evenings, youth gatherings, and social justice initiatives.Commitment to coordinating after-school programs, including work with Vinnies, Australian Marist Solidarity and other service activities that promote a spirit of compassion.Capacity to collaborate with senior leadership to plan, evaluate, and lead religious activities that deepen the Catholic and Marist identity of Parramatta Marist.A demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning and formation.Qualifications and Accreditations required: Master of Religious Education/Theology or commitment to complete within four years of appointmentCompliance with NSW Child Protection Legislation - Working with ChildrenEligibility according to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA)Tertiary Qualification (minimum 4-year degree)Accreditation to teach REInterested?
