Relationships and Communications OfficerApply now Job no: 500508Work type: Full timeLocation: HobartCategories: Marketing & Communications Join an internationally renowned Research and Education Centre for Dementia ResearchIdentify and cultivate relationships to promote the Wicking Centre's educational programsFull-time, Fixed-Term till Dec 2026 based in HobartAbout the opportunity The Relationships and Communications Officer will work directly with the Wicking Dementia Centre's Project Manager to cultivate relationships with industry, government and not-for-profit organisations who would benefit from the Centre's educational offerings. The Wicking Dementia Centre has been at the forefront of online dementia education since 2008 and has a number of large educational programs designed for the aged care workforce. Almost half a million people in Australia are living with dementia, and this is projected to increase to more than 800,000 by 2054. Boosting the capability of the workforce who care for people living dementia is a vital aspect of preparing for this future.
The Relationships and Communications Officer will be responsible for identifying prospective users of the Wicking Dementia Centre's education and related offerings, developing relationships and communicating the benefits. This will require an understanding of the aged care sector, online education, communication styles, stakeholder engagement and stakeholder management. Working closely with academics, project staff and project partners, the Relationships Officer will be responsible for telling our story in a way that is meaningful to our target audience.
What you'll do: Support the identification and development of strategic external relationships and networks with industry, community and peak bodies in the health, aged and dementia care sectors to drive engagement in the Centre's short course education programs.Engage with internal stakeholders, including academic and professional staff, to understand and showcase their projects, educational and research, in innovative and contemporary ways.Provide industry insights; undertake environmental analysis of state, national and international health policy, industry, funding, and competitor environments;In collaboration with the Wicking Dementia Centre's Engagement Coordinator, generate compelling and accurate content for diverse channels, showcasing the ability to craft messages that resonate with large and varied audiences across traditional and digital platforms.Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of systems to manage and report on engagement activity, enhancing integration across the Wicking Dementia Centre's educational offerings and related services.In collaboration with the Wicking Dementia Centre's Engagement and Administrative staff, provide coordination support to arrange and deliver public events and community engagement activities.Be the face of the Wicking Dementia Centre as required, promoting the Centre's offerings at conferences and trade shows, including speaking at public events.What we're looking for: High level written and oral communication skills including an ability to successfully communicate with a wide range of stakeholders of all levels and explain complex problems clearly and effectively.Excellent interpersonal, public relations and presentations skills in a cross-cultural context.Experience in designing and developing relevant and visually attractive promotional material using contemporary storytelling techniques. Desirable: experience with design software such as Canva, Adobe Illustrator and post-production editing tools.Demonstrated ability to develop and manage relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.Demonstrated capacity in the development of collaborative partnerships.Well-developed management and planning skills, combined with a proactive work ethic, attention to detail, ability to manage multiple projects and tasks concurrently and capacity to use sound judgement.Skills and experience working as a member of effective and sustainable teams of diverse individuals and group stakeholders.Demonstrated success in business development, communications, reporting and maintaining records and systems.An understanding of, or willingness and ability to learn about, the aged care and/or health sector in Australia.Salary details Appointment to this role will be at HEO 6 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $113,029 comprising base salary within the range of $89,091 to $96,606 plus 17% superannuation.
