About the role We are currently seeking applications for a permanent Relationship Counsellor (known internally as Family and Relationships Services (FaRS) Practitioner). This position is a full-time opportunity, working 75 hours per fortnight.
The role is based in Mackay.
The option to work on a hybrid work-from-home and in office model is also on offer. The purpose of this role is providing a high standard of family and relationship counselling interventions to individuals, couples, and families.
This role will be working primarily with couples and therefore experience with couples counselling is highly desired.The position can also include working with children.
The key responsibilities of this role include:
Conducting client intake, risk and needs assessment with all clients. Applying knowledge of life span and development theory and issues relevant to life transitions to the individual, couple, and/or families (e.g., issues surrounding relationship formation and marriage, separating or remarrying, transition to parenthood, parenting different age children, retirement) Applying a systems theory framework and other evidence-based interventions for assisting individuals, couples and families meet their service delivery goals as appropriate. Recommending appropriate interventions to clients based on their presenting issues, their history, risk assessment, the impact of presenting issues on any children in the family, and their service delivery goals. Maintaining confidentiality and understand the limits of confidentiality particularly as they apply to clinical risk management and duty of care matters. Maintaining client files, case notes and risk management documentation as per organisational policy and procedure. Understanding and meeting legislative and funding requirements including collecting and recording statistical data in a timely and accurate manner. Workdays/hours will be negotiated with the successful applicant, however, please note you may be required to work one evening shift which can be between the hours of 11.30pm and 7.30pm with some flexibility needed in order to meet business requirements.
The salary being offered is between $84,426.28 to $ 98,658.16 per annum.
To be negotiated depending upon qualifications and experience, plus superannuation.
About you To be successful in this position, you will:
Possess appropriate undergraduate qualifications in Behavioural Science, Psychology, Counselling or Social Work Demonstrate experience and theoretical knowledge and application of Family Systems theories, evidence-based interventions for couple's relationship work, and developmental psychological theories. Demonstrate experience and theoretical knowledge in application of practice frameworks for working with family violence. Have previous experience in the delivery of counselling to couples and/or families, across the lifespan, coupled with knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations relating to relationships counselling.
