Client Description:
This NSW Hospital is one of two large public hospitals on the Central Coast. It is a busy regional hospital of approximately 300 beds and is a teaching hospital of the University of Newcastle. Inpatient services include general medical, general surgical, cardiology, drug and alcohol, mental health and a level 3 Intensive Care Unit. The hospital's emergency department is one of the busiest in the state and sees approximately 63,000 presentations per year. Twenty-five percent of the presentations are paediatric. It is the busiest paediatric ED in New South Wales not to have a supporting inpatient Unit, however it is very well supported by a Paediatric Assessment Unit. The department sees a broad range of critically ill patients across all age groups and Registrars receive extensive clinical and procedural exposure.
