The Opportunity In this pivotal role you'll ensure that Vocus adheres to all relevant regulatory requirements within the energy and telecommunications industry in Australia. As Regulatory Compliance Manager, you'll work closely with internal departments and regulatory bodies to address inquiries, audits, and compliance issues, whilst providing strategic guidance to the Consumer departments and ensuring adherence to industry standards.
What you'll be doing day-to-day: Compliance Program Management Monitor and assess compliance with obligations, regulations and industry standards.Conduct regular compliance audits and control assurance reviews.Review and determine if compliance risks are breaches to obligations and whether they are reportable based on reporting requirements.Review controls to ensure they are adequate to mitigate compliance risks.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements and changes in legislation.Policy and Procedure Development Create and update compliance policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements or changes.Ensure that all employees are aware of and trained on compliance policies and procedures.Provide expert guidance and advice to internal teams on regulatory compliance matters.Regulatory Response Management Manage and prepare submissions/responses to regulatory requests from energy and telecommunications retailers.Ensure that all communications with regulatory bodies are accurate, legally sound, and appropriately documented and submitted within specified deadlines.Review and revise responses in coordination with legal advisors to mitigate any potential legal risks.Stakeholder Collaboration Work closely with internal departments (e.g., legal, compliance, finance, operations) to provide guidance & advice on compliance matters.Liaise with regulatory bodies and external auditors to clarify requirements and address inquiries.Foster a culture of compliance and ethical conduct within the organisation.Training and Awareness Develop and deliver training programs to enhance employee understanding of compliance requirements.Promote awareness of compliance policies and procedures through various communication channels.Address compliance-related questions and concerns from employees.Stay informed about changes in regulatory requirements and industry best practices.Identify opportunities for improving the organisation's compliance framework.Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance compliance effectiveness.What you'll bring to this role Minimum of 5+ years of experience in regulatory compliance or a related role within the energy industry.Strong experience in managing responses to regulatory requests and audits.Strong experience in roles involving interpreting and disseminating complex information to multiple stakeholders.Experience in compliance programs, controls design, and risk management.What We Offer Diverse and dynamic teams with a supportive and inclusive culture.Supportive career development plans with comprehensive ongoing training, support, and development opportunities.Flexible hours and a hybrid working environment.Generous discounts on power, gas, mobile and internet; plus, discounts to over 400 retailers.Competitive leave benefits, including anniversary leave, purchased leave, parental leave, volunteering leave, study leave, and much more.Study assistance programs to excel your personal growth, learning and development.Health and wellness offerings, including access to our wellbeing initiatives that can help you from a financial, psychological, and physical perspective.Working at Vocus is never just a job – it's personal.
