For more information on Special Measures plans, go to the OCPE website.Primary objectiveThe Registry Manager, Firearms Policy and Recording Unit (FPRU) is responsible for the effective management and delivery of FPRU's licence processing and data maintenance functions.
The role manages a team with responsibility for the processing of high-volume licensing transactions and related activities.
The Registry Manager will provide leadership and development to the team to achieve a cohesive and service-orientated unit in a high-performing environment.Key duties and responsibilitiesProvide advice, guidance and recommendations to senior leadership to facilitate daily business operations across the Registry.Review, provide advice and make recommendations regarding systems, processes, and policy improvements within FPRU.Manage a small team to achieve operational outcomes in a high-volume, transactional environment.Establish meaningful key performance indicators and monitor to ensure optimal performance.
Where opportunities for improvements are identified, make recommendations as to how they can be implemented.Provide oversight and review on licensing decisions prior to their review by the Officer in Charge to ensure compliance with legislation and delegations.Selection criteriaEssentialDemonstrated experience working effectively as the leader of a small operational team to achieve outputs.Highly developed written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills for effective and professional communication and influence.Demonstrated competence in interpreting complex legislation and translating legislative requirements into business processes.Prior experience operating in a fast-paced environment with strong organisational and time management skills; with demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure.Demonstrated experience in managing a small team through a large-scale change process, including cultural change.Ability to work on sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality and demonstrated lack of conflict of interest in relation to recreational or commercial firearms possession or use and no active participation in the firearm industry or peak bodies.DesirableAn understanding of the Firearms Act 1997 and the Firearms Regulations 1997, or the ability to quickly acquire.Experience in the use of police specific information systems, including SaFER, IJIS, MOVERS and SerPro.Further informationThe successful applicant will be required to undergo a criminal history check and be subject of scrutiny against police intelligence holdings to confirm they have significant criminal history record.#J-18808-Ljbffr
