The Role: We are seeking a motivated and experienced Paediatric Registrar/Senior Registrar, who will work as part of the Paediatric team, servicing a population of approximately 116,000.

The NWRH Paediatric Ward has approximately 1000 admissions per annum.
There are approximately 1000 births a year with around 150 - 200 admissions to the Special Care Nursery.
The Paediatric registrar has regular outpatient clinics and the rural / regional nature of the hospital allows the doctor, with appropriate supervision, to manage a broad spectrum of clinical conditions.
They also have the opportunity to be involved with multidisciplinary asthma / allergy and behavioural / neurodevelopmental clinics and attend specialist clinics – rehabilitation, cardiology, diabetes, endocrinology, and oncology clinics.
The Department of Paediatrics provides a community outreach service which also provides learning and training opportunities for basic and advanced trainees.
There are regular teaching sessions for registrars.
The Department of Paediatrics has been granted full accreditation for Advanced Specialised Training in Paediatrics by the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) and has full RACP Accreditation for General Paediatrics (Rural) with a perinatal component (general paediatrics, acute care, community and developmental paediatrics).

The unit is supported by a Level 4 Neonatal Unit and an 8 bed Level 4 Intensive Care Unit.
The Service: The health service has the main acute 160 bed teaching Hospital (with a rural clinical school attached) and a 70 bed Private Hospital, the other acute Hospital is located a short distance away and has 130 beds.
The DoH offers a comprehensive undergraduate and graduate clinical training program, with close ties to the University of Tasmania through the Rural Clinical School.
