Location: Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. Site: Kalgoorlie Health Campus Salary: MP Year 1-7 $139,932 to $186,790 p.a. *includes base salary $115,028 to $157,053 pa, professional development allowance $10,472 pa and 11.5% employer contributed superannuation.
Senior Registrar Year 1-2, $204,757 to $214,046 pa* *includes base salary $168,679 to $177,010 pa, professional development allowance $14,960 pa and 11.5% employer contributed superannuation.
Full time (80 hours per fortnight) salary as per WA Health System Medical Practitioners AMA Industrial Agreement 2022. Rates as of 1 July 2023.

POSITION PROFILE As Trainee Registrar of Public Health, you will work with the Public Health Physician and Goldfields Public Health Unit to develop and support projects in disease control and immunisation.
A key function of this position will be to liaise with a variety of stakeholders including hospital clinicians, general practitioners, regional public health teams, sexual health teams and Aboriginal community-controlled health services whilst running screening programs and managing disease outbreaks.
You will also be required to carry out epidemiological analysis, collaborate with Health promotion and Local Government to respond to other public health risks and provide education and advice to general practice, other health staff and community-based organisations in relation to public health issues such as environmental health and local government public health planning.
The successful applicant will work with a dynamic multidisciplinary public health team under the guidance of the Public Health Physician for the Goldfields Region. Particular issues include Trachoma, sexually transmitted diseases, TB and strong links with the NG Lands.
The position is accredited for Advanced Public Health Training with the RACP and has an active education program and strong culture of learning, research and academic achievement. REGION PROFILE The Goldfields region of the WA Country Health Service covers the Goldfields-Esperance Region of Western Australia. The region is located in the south eastern corner of Western Australia and covers 770,488 sq km (including offshore islands). The WA Country Health Service Goldfields consists of two main health campuses located in Kalgoorlie & Esperance, and three smaller hospitals located in Laverton, Leonora and Norseman. The Goldfields is a culturally rich region with a number of Aboriginal communities spread out across the region, 16 distinct Aboriginal language groups and an Aboriginal population that represents 12.3 per cent of our total population, with 1 in 10 people, on average, identifying as Aboriginal – this in comparison to the state average of 3.6 per cent. The region supports a wide range of industry, including mining, agriculture, aquaculture and tourism. Mining is the predominant sector in the central and northern parts of the region, with a well-established agricultural sector in the south.

ELIGIBILITY TO APPLY To be successful you will need to hold AHPRA registration and be eligible to enrol as an Advanced Trainee in the Australian Faculty of Public Health Medicine.
You will also need to have completed a Master of Public Health Medicine and have at least three years post-graduate medical experience.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of cultural issues and social determinants particularly relating to Aboriginal Health is a must.
