About Us Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.
Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the 'Courts Group'.
The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state.
About the Role As a Registrar of the Magistrates' Court, perform appropriate legal, administrative and quasi-judicial functions relating to the day-to-day and ongoing operations of the Court, under limited direction from the Registrar of the court.
Provide information and authoritative advice on court and tribunal procedures and practices, including applying legislation relating to the Magistrates' Court of Victoria, to relevant stakeholders including legal practitioners, police and corrections officers, government agencies, clients and the general public. This role has significant technical components as well as leadership and people-management components and, therefore, requires someone who has both an advanced understanding of the Court's protocols and procedures and well-developed team-leadership experience.
About You
• Assist with the direction, supervision and training of staff.
• Assist in the development, evaluation and implementation of new policies and procedures.
• Assist in the supervision, security and maintenance of all court buildings and surrounds, if required.
• Other duties as directed.
You must have Certificate IV in Government (Court Services) or equivalent.
