About the role 
The Ayr Health Service has Registered Nurse/ Midwife positions available.  The role is to provide inpatient nursing and midwifery care for women and families of the Burdekin community.
The existing maternity service is supported by an Obstetric Senior Medical Officer (SMO) Team with a core Registered Nurse/Midwife roster to support birthing, antenatal and postnatal care to approximately 100 women per annum.  Midwives collaborate with the SMO team who lead the maternity care and work with allocated midwives to plan and evaluate midwifery care.
The Registered Nurse and Midwife provide clinical leadership and expertise, support and education to other nurses and midwives, patients and their families that ensures the provision of best practice, collaboration and quality person-centred care.  The successful candidate will also be required to work as part of the wider nursing team providing general inpatient medical and surgical nursing care.

(NG5) Annual leave loading + leave 12.75% employer superannuation contribution Professional Devleopment allowance Shift, locality and uniform allowance Employee Wellness and assistance programs access to corporate discounts Requirements Qualifications: Bachelor of Nursing and Bachelor of Midwifery or equivalent is a mandatory qualification for this position. Demonstrates clinical skills in IV cannulation, water immersion in labour and waterbirth, perineal suturing and speculum examination. If not competent in these skills must be willing to undertake the necessary training during the term of this employment. The successful applicant will be required to complete Townsville University Hospital mandatory competencies and the Maternity Support Unit mandatory competencies, the Drug Therapy Protocol, Examination of the Newborn package and the Water Immersion in Labour package, within three months of commencement. Highly Desirable : Possession of a relevant postgraduate qualification in an appropriate field is highly desirable. Such experience may be discipline specific or have a service area focus. Shift Workers : Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster, which will include participation in an on-call roster. On call : Appointees may be required to participate in an on-call Drivers Licence: This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate license endorsement to operate this vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided prior to the commencement of duty. Please refer to the Role Description for further details. Why make the move?
