Make an impact on the lives of patients, their families and carers connected with the Secure Extended Care Unit. About the Secure Extended Care Unit The Secure Extended Care Unit (SECU) is part of the Mental Health Division at Austin Health.
SECU is a 25-bed regional service which provides a rehabilitation and recovery service to individuals aged between 18-64 years with severe, unremitting mental health symptoms and complex needs who need the support of a secure environment.
The SECU provides therapeutic care in a contained and structured environment.
About the role As an Austin Health Nurse, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of evidence-based nursing care in designated mental health inpatient units, in order to optimise health outcomes for the community.
A regular day will see you:
Ensure the well-being and safety of patients by following the values and principles which underpin best practice in relation to patient care, education and patient rights.Achieve and maintain the skills necessary, through personal professional development, to plan, prioritize and implement holistic patient care.The role involves a 24/7 rotating roster with ongoing flexible rostering options.Participating in quality supervision and training.Contributing to a positive workplace culture that prioritises wellbeing and personal growth in a supportive team environment.About you You will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care.
You are someone who wants to make a difference for patients in a secure mental health inpatient setting; you'll bring energy and drive to your work and have a keen interest in developing your nursing skills and profile on the unit.
