An opportunity has become available for a Registered Nurse to join the Population Health Division team.
This is a Permanent Full-time position with the Needle and Syringe Program (NSP) located at Nepean Hospital.
Your role as the Registered Nurse will work collaboratively within a small multidisciplinary team to provide safe, compassionate, person-centred primary health care services for the prevention and care of blood borne viruses among injecting drug users.
This role provides a range of clinical services to clients of the program, including engagement of clients through the Needle and Syringe Program; conducting health assessments; screening for blood borne viruses; providing vaccinations, wound care, and case management.
This role will see you provide core Needle and Syringe Program service delivery as directed.
Working with the Needle and Syringe Program will allow you to meet the needs of staff, patients, and their families whilst working in a diverse team demonstrating CORE values whilst providing exceptional person-centered care.

What you will bring to the role:
Current registration as a Registered Nurse Division 1 with AHPRA and demonstrated experience and clinical skill in nursing as a Registered Nurse including completion of a new graduate Registered Nurse program or equivalent experience working as a Registered Nurse.
Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the harm minimisation approach to illicit drug use.
Demonstrated understanding of the range of health issues facing injecting drug users and the contemporary approaches to addressing these.
Experience in venepuncture, wound care and accreditation in immunisation or willingness to undertake training in these areas.
Experience in providing pre and post-test HIV and hepatitis C counselling or willingness to undertake training.
Knowledge of Hep C transmission and treatment.
Demonstrated strong interpersonal, teamwork, negotiation, communication, and motivational skills.
Current Driver's Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel.
Ability to travel within the LHD in accordance with the position.
