Exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join the Department of Health!
The Team: The Tasmanian Bowel Cancer Prevention Program (TBCPP) provides local operational oversight of Australia's population-based bowel cancer screening program, the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program (NBCSP).
This includes:
Overseeing local promotion, campaign development, and recruitment initiatives to encourage increased participation in the NBCSP;Monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on the effectiveness of the NBCSP;Leading and participating in quality improvement activities to improve the functioning of the NBCSP, both locally and nationally;Supporting program participants with a positive screening result toward safe and timely diagnostic assessment;Contributing to the strategic direction and policy development for the NBCSP.The Role: Operating as part of a small team, this role is responsible for the statewide follow-up of NBCSP participants in Tasmania who have had a positive faecal occult blood test (FOBT) result to minimise undue delays in bowel cancer diagnoses, help minimise participant uncertainty, and ultimately contribute to better patient outcomes.
You will need: Knowledge and skills, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge and skills, in the areas of bowel cancer pathogenesis, histopathology, population screening and/or cancer screening.Well-developed computing skills/practical working knowledge of register and database software applications.Highly developed written and oral communication skills with the ability to successfully liaise with clients, community members, program staff and other members of the health care team.Knowledge and skills to support the development and maintenance of policy documents and quality improvement processes in relation to Follow-Up processes.Note: Please refer to the Statement of Duties for all the selection criteria of this position to address in your application.
Details of appointment: Permanent part time, day worker position, working 45 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $78,179 to $105,995 per annum (Pro rata).
Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023. Access to the Grade 4 salary range $99,455- $105,995 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type.Salary Packaging: You'll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
