About the opportunity: High Dependency Unit is a 10-bed acute mental health unit providing specialised treatment and care to consumers with highly complex mental health needs. The unit has a strong focus on creating safe and therapeutic spaces utilising recovery orientated principles and trauma informed care.
The mental health high dependency unit focuses on using least restrictive practices and promotes the use of low stimulus environments such as sensory rooms.The team works closely with consumers, their key supports and relevant stakeholders to establish a dynamic, person-centred approach.The mental health high dependency team focuses on a multidisciplinary approach with nursing staff working closely with the psychiatry consultant and registrar, social workers, occupational therapists, peer workers, community teams and more.
The nursing team is well supported by the nurse unit manager, clinical nurse specialists, clinical nurse educators and clinical nurse consultants.

About you: Mental health high dependency unit is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated employee with mental health experience that can provide high-quality and compassionate care to mental health consumers.
The registered nurse will need to be able to effectively communicate and work within the multidisciplinary team.The applicant will have an interest engaging with the consumers and developing positive therapeutic relationships to aid in their recovery journey.
The registered nurse will act as an advocate for the specific needs of all consumers on the unit and promote safe, efficient, and effective nursing care.
The applicant will align with the NSW health CORE values as well as the SWSLHD vision of leading safe, sustainable care for healthier communities.

What you'll be doing The Registered Nurse will provide safe, compassionate, quality, person centred care and work in collaboration with patients/families/carers and a multidisciplinary team to achieve identified goals and outcomes.

Where You'll Be Working Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area.
It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.

The Hospital provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.

Liverpool Hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment.
The $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) project will provide enhanced facilities and an increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South Western Sydney.

Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the UNSW Sydney and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.

Located in the heart of Liverpool City, the hospital is close to public transport, shopping centres and eateries.

Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Demonstrated recent experience as a Registered Nurse in an environment appropriate to the relevant speciality.
Demonstrated ability to provide safe compassionate quality care that is culturally responsive.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs.
Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise.
Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of evidenced based nursing care.
Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace.
