They are part of the national network of Medicare Urgent Care Clinics.
The Walk-in Centres are staffed by Advanced Practice Nurses and Nurse Practitioners.Advanced Practice Nurses work within the scope provided by Clinical treatment Protocols and Medication Standing Orders.
Nurse Practitioners provide autonomous care to our patients, using advanced clinical assessment skills, experience, and expertise to assess, diagnose and treat patients who present to the WiCs.
Nurse Practitioners have a scope of practice which extends beyond the WiC CTP and MSOs enabling them to treat a broader range of conditions.
Nurse Practitioners are expected to undertake relevant education and training to demonstrate competence in any expanded scope of practice.The successful applicant will work collaboratively and report directly to the Assistant Director of Nursing.Note: Credentialing through the CHS Nursing and Midwifery Clinical Scope of Practice and Credentialing Committee is mandatory prior to employment.
The successful candidate/s will be eligible for appointment to a permanent RN 4.2 Nurse Practitioner position/s on evidence of completion of the WiC competency program.
Competency is to be met within four weeks and assessed via Objective Structured Clinical Exams (OSCE).This may require a temporary contract as a RN 3.1 until the credentialing process is completed.Please note prior to commencement successful candidates will be required to:Comply with Canberra Health Services Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination policy.Nurse Practitioner must be credentialed prior to commencement at Canberra Health Services.Undertake primary health care clinical training and education and the objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) assessments prior to working autonomously in the WiC.
