The Infection Prevention and Control Unit comprises a team of dedicated nursing staff working with the infectious diseases and microbiology medical staff to minimise infection risks for patients, health care workers, and the public.
The unit strives for excellence in achieving this aim through ongoing programs including staff education, policy development and review, and surveillance of hospital-acquired infections; key input in location and equipping of new or redesigned clinical areas; outbreak management; and promotion of hand-hygiene and other infection control techniques.
A new and exciting role has been created to provide advice and support to the Canberra Hospital Campus Modernisation Program and other health-related infrastructure projects at CHS.
