The Paediatric Child and Adolescent Short Stay Service (CASSS) is a combined hybrid model of care encompassing the Paediatric Day Stay (PDS) Unit and Child and Adolescent Hospital in the Home Service (CA-HITH).
The PDS services include a rapid flow day stay elective and emergency surgical procedures: pre and post-operative care, as well as medical services such as oncology, haematology, rheumatology, immunology, sedation for procedures, endocrine dynamic testing.
The Child and Adolescent Hospital in the Home (CA-HITH) is a hospital replacement service that provides hospital-level care for children within the comfort of their own home, rather than in a hospital ward.
The Clinical Nurse Coordinator role is responsible for providing clinical leadership for the day-to-day activities in CASSS including advanced clinical assessment and care to patients, coordinating the CASSS visits within the hospital, road visits, and the coordination of referrals.
The role will lead the nursing team to ensure safe and efficient patient care, managing the ordering of medical supplies and specialised medications, treatment plans across the service to meet operational needs, and liaising with the multidisciplinary team with the ACT and surrounding referral centres along with providing leadership in coordinating complex medical care.
