The Women's Health Service provides nursing, medical, counselling, and nutrition services for women who have significant difficulty accessing mainstream health services. The Registered Nurse will see women in the reproductive years and beyond for short-term care for sexual and reproductive health and assists the Staff Specialist with clinical procedures. The Registered Nurse is responsible for undertaking well women assessments including cervical screening, following up clients' results, clinical supply ordering, health literacy activities, and health promotion activities. Nursing outreach is provided at Community Health Centres and may involve outreach at Child and Family Centres and various women's refuges to support access to health care for vulnerable women escaping family violence.
This is a part-time position with working days Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. This position is a protected position and is open to women only as Canberra Health Service, consistent with section 33B 1(a) of the Discrimination Act 1991, considers that it is a genuine occupational qualification for a woman to be employed in this position to most effectively provide the nursing service.
