Advertising Closes: Sunday, 10th November 2024 About the role: As a Registered Nurse in our team, you will provide high-quality wound care and continence management. You will collaborate effectively with clinicians, clients, and external service providers and work independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment.
This is a temporary 0.5 /7-day roster position (5 days per fortnight), working alternate weekends and public holidays as necessary. The position is for 12 months with every possibility of further extension.
Initially the successful applicant will be orientated to the service during the week to ensure clear understanding of documentation requirements and models of practice used by the team. This will be expected to take 4-6 weeks maximum. A Mentor would be assigned to support and guide with input from NUM, CNS and Nurse Practitioners in wound management and continence. There is a clear orientation pathway for community nursing with key education requirements within first month, 3 months and 12 months.

Where you'll be working: Westlakes Community Nursing Service is based at the Toronto Community Health Centre. We are part of the Community Aged Care Services, Greater Newcastle Sector.
Key Responsibilities: You have a proven ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.You provide appropriate supervision and/or mentoring for staff as required including the supervision of students on clinical placement.You possess excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.You act as an advocate to assist patients, and their families/carers make informed decisions.You are able to delegate aspects of care to ENs and AINs according to their competence and within their scope of practice.You respond effectively to emergency situations and the changing status of the patient.You are comfortable working with patients who exhibit challenging behaviours.You demonstrate commitment to work and partner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and families to enhance health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.You are committed to the CORE values and the Excellence Framework.What we can offer you: 4 weeks annual leave (pro-rata for part-time employees)Superannuation contributionsEmployee Assistance Program (EAP) for staff and family membersOpportunity to work and collaborate with a range of non-clinical and clinical professionals.Requirements: Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.Eligible to drive in NSW with a current driver's licence and willingness to travel for work purposes.Availability to work weekends on an ongoing basis (non-negotiable).Additional information: An eligibility list will be created for future temporary part-time vacancies.To be eligible for employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport, or hold an appropriate visa that allows you to live and work in Australia.
