Main Purpose of Position The primary purpose of this role is to ensure the Residential facility is run in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Capecare by working within the care team framework to provide holistic care for residents.
Accountabilities Occupational Safety & Health
Standards of Performance Observe and comply with all health and safety instructions, procedures, signs and notices relating to your work and correctly use the appropriate protective clothing and equipment supplied. Follow Infection Prevention and Control procedures and standards relevant to the role. Use correct documented procedures to correct, if possible, and immediately report any unsafe situations, near-miss incidents and all work related injuries. Maintain good housekeeping at all times. Education/Qualifications Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse. Technical Competencies and Skills Well-developed time management and organisational skills. Ability to show initiative, discretion and judgement in carrying out assigned duties. Demonstrated leadership skills. Demonstrated organisational skills and the ability to be flexible, adaptable and innovative. Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team environment and act as a positive role model with honesty and integrity at all times presenting a 'can do' attitude. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Strong empathy towards the elderly. Relevant Experience Relevant clinical experience, knowledge and demonstrated competencies within aged care. Key Accountabilities of the Role Comprehensive and individual assessment of residents. Incorporate residents and relatives, where possible, in planning care and formulating expected outcomes. Provide skilled care, with particular attention to: Safe, accurate administration of ordered medication Consistent application of infection control principles Compliance with Standards as per the Aged Care Act 1997 Instigation of requests for medical intervention when necessary Compliance and follow up with medical orders Performance and documentation of, clinical observations, including neurological observations, in the event of a resident fall where a head injury may have been sustained Performance of ongoing clinical assessments and observations, in accordance with identified clinical need for the individual resident Evaluate results of care given and resident's satisfaction with care Document all aspects of care: With knowledge and application of legal considerations In order to validate ACFI responses To reflect the clinical interventions required to be completed with the individual resident Care Coordination: Plan daily activities with staff Incorporate resident's individual needs in daily planning Communicate effectively with staff and other health care personnel; Ensure that all duty requirements are completed satisfactorily; Observe and report matters, or take action where appropriate, to ensure smooth running of the care facility; Provide input into overall management planning; Ensure effective and economic use of resources and equipment; o Act as a role model for other staff; Objectively evaluate standards of care of ENs and Carers; Provide constructive guidance and feedback to ENs and Carers; Communication relevant information to families or significant others as identified by the residents.
