About the role: We are looking for a candidate who is a quick learner with strong communication skills who can work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team. Any experience working in acute or chronic pain, pain procedures, anaesthetic nursing, recovery, rehabilitation is advantageous but not essential.
We work with a socially disadvantaged, frequently distressed patient group especially in the chronic complex pain context. We offer outpatient appointments, group programs, pain procedures and ongoing support to aid recovery, so every day is different! The work is interesting and complex and supported with plenty of opportunity for debrief, feedback and professional growth. There are no afterhours/weekend shifts as part of this role.
Where you'll be working: Hunter Integrated Pain Service (HIPS) is a tertiary chronic pain service based at John Hunter Hospital. We are an interdisciplinary team including pain medicine specialists, psychiatrist, nurses (CNC, CNS, RN), clinical psychologists, physiotherapists, a social worker and dietitian. We have a holistic approach and serve patients with chronic complex pain, end of life care pain and cancer pain, collaborating with primary care and other specialist services in the Hunter New England Local Health District, including acute pain services, drug and alcohol clinical services and rehabilitation services.
The team has an 'All teach, All grow' approach with all members helping each other learn and develop their professional skills. Senior team clinicians including allied health staff, senior nurses and medical staff will support the successful candidate to settle into the role with adequate opportunity provided for regular feedback, check-ins and debrief. Formal orientation will be provided and an observation period of 2-4 weeks as supernumerary will be part of induction.

Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA Demonstrated experience or interest in complex pain, pain procedures, anaesthetic nursing, recovery and rehabilitation would be advantageous 5+ years' experience as a Registered Nurse (preferred) Additional information: An eligibility list will be created for future permanent part time and temporary part time vacancies.
