New staff will be mentored one on one in a 12-week evidence-based orientation program. Temporary contract is available leading to possibilities of permanent full time/part time employment.Duties of the position are to, but not limited to:Provide a health screening, counselling and advisory service to infants, children, their families and carers in a variety of settings including Child and Family Health Centres, Family Care Centres and homes.Undertake health assessments and ongoing health and development screening, identifying actual or potential issues through the application of clinical judgement and formulate, implement and evaluate a management plan for the individual infant or child in consultation with the family.Employ communication and interpersonal skills and techniques when working with families, carers and others that reflect the principles of Family Partnership.People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background encouraged to apply.Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:Registered Nurse – Division 1 with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Current drivers licence recognised in NSW.Recognised post graduate qualifications in Child and Family Health or equivalent experience.Demonstrated understanding of the principles and practices used when providing health services to families in their homes.Ability to demonstrate counselling skills, group facilitation skills and working in partnership with families.Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with clients, colleagues and other professionals both verbal and written.Understanding of the principles of primary health care in the context of Child and Family Health Nursing.This is a NSW Health Category A position which requires immunisation and screening for certain diseases.
