Exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse to lead the Nursing team at a 24/7 AOD Rehabilitation Facility. Located 10 minutes from Pakenham on a 40-acre property with beautiful, serene landscapes. Permanent, full-time role working Monday to Friday 7:00am to 3:00pm with the possibility of moving to a 8:00am to 4:00pm roster early in the New Year. Windana. Providing connected services to more people in need. We provide services across Victoria for adults and young people experiencing alcohol and other drug harms, family violence, mental health challenges and social disadvantage.  Our Model of Care puts clients at the centre of what we do to create positive change in people's lives. About the Program Maryknoll Therapeutic Community (MTC) is a 77-bed facility that provides a safe space for residents to recover and heal by exploring their own life experiences and learning from the experience and insights of others.
About the role The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering direct and comprehensive nursing care and individual case management to residents, including nursing assessment and treatment. In addition, the Registered Nurse is a role model and leader with respect to clinical practice. This role plans and coordinates the weekly General Practitioner Clinic and Pharmacotherapy program as well as other nursing services as directed.
Lead and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Nursing team at Maryknoll Therapeutic Community. Mentor and develop a small team of three to four Enrolled Nurses and enhance their knowledge through peer consult and training. Attend GP appointments with clients and ensure clients understand their health needs. Liaise with GP pre/post admission and any other allied health professionals as required. Contribute and participate in admissions, intake and discharge review and process, with reference to Physical Health and Mental Health as Life Domains. Conduct nursing risk assessments, noting any pre-existing medical conditions and their treatment plan and monitor these conditions throughout the residents' stay. Maintain comprehensive client documentation and case notes, ensuring accuracy and compliance and capturing relevant details for analysis. What we're looking for: Demonstrated experience working within the alcohol and drug sector, mental health or other primary health care environment with an understanding of AOD service navigation with complex needs. Experience in conducting drug and alcohol withdrawal and physical assessments. Knowledge of contemporary standards and evidence-based practice and interventions in AOD context. Excellent people management skills with proven ability to provide clinical supervision. Exceptional interpersonal skills with a natural ability to communicate effectively to a diverse group of people. Bachelor's degree in nursing & current registration as Registered Nurse (Division 1) within the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Ideally a Certificate IV in AOD or willingness to complete an AOD Skillset. The team We're a friendly, dynamic bunch of individuals that value diversity, continuous improvement and collaboration.
