Registered Nurse - 12-month parental leave role Mawarnkarra (MHS) is the largest primary health care provider providing direct services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples living in the Roebourne area. MHS provides the families of Roebourne with a fully functional and accredited Clinic that treats approximately 3,000 people per year.

The Position The role of Registered Nurse is to have responsibilities in the provision of person-centered clinical care, preventative health and health promotion. The Registered Nurse will provide evidence-based clinical care and health promotion advice to the local community and others who use the service.
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES Motivation to provide service excellence Demonstrated ability to work with best practice standards Demonstrated high level of clinical skills relevant to the position Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment Demonstrated ability to problem solve issues on a day-to-day basis Ability to discuss and explain complex issues to patients/clients An understanding of the standards required for documentation and electronic data management in health A demonstrated understanding of the issues and barriers that impact upon the health outcomes of Aboriginal people Commitment to ongoing participation in education, professional development, evidence-based research and quality assurance DUTIES Clinical and other services: Provide and initiate primary health care clinical nursing assessments and services as required Work collaboratively with members of the clinical team to ensure the effective delivery of clinical care to patients Participate in case conferencing as necessary Assist the GPs with procedures Collaborate closely with GPs and visiting specialists on care of patients Provide advice, education and referrals as necessary Manage patient immunisations including the recording on AIR Oversee the management of patient recalls and reminders for the clinic Perform routine pathology tests, screening and other technical tasks such as ECGs, wound management and administration of medication Promote Medicare billing in the service consistent with laws governing Medicare Education and health promotion: Work in collaboration with other staff at Mawarnkarra and take a leadership role in implementing education and health promotion for patients and the community Participate in chronic disease management of patients and provide education to patients and families on care, chronic disease management and health prevention Provide education and training to other health service staff on the health needs of patients of the service Ensure that the integrity of all immunisations is maintained Infection control: Demonstrate leadership in maintaining infection control principles at all times Educate staff on the principles, and policies and procedures of infection control Reporting and data management: Ensure a clear understanding of Mawarnkarra reporting requirements as relevant to the position Maintain and provide records and clinical statistics for reports and data collection requirements Quality improvement activities: Take a leadership role in continual quality improvement in the delivery of client services Ensure all standards are maintained consistent with evidence-based best practice standards as applicable to the role of Registered Nurse Compliance: Maintain compliance with all statutory and regulatory obligations including Nursing Registration Assist with the maintenance of cold chain systems and other medication storage systems Networking with other services to improve health care delivery Professional responsibilities: Maintain the highest standards of professional conduct Participate in maintaining a safe working environment Other duties as reasonably requested by management EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS Current Registered Nurse registration with AHPRA Minimum of 5 years of experience in a clinical setting (general practice preferred) OTHER RELEVANT INFORMATION Performance will be appraised on an ongoing basis and formally at the first 3 months and annually thereafter. Consent to undergo a Working with Children Check and a National Police Certificate is required. Must hold a current Australian Drivers Licence and CPR Certificate. All employees are subject to regular random drug and alcohol screening. COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate is required as per the WA Government mandate for all health care workers.

Remuneration Benefits include: Base Salary $120,000 pa pro rata + Allowances Superannuation 11.5% Generous salary sacrificing (pre-tax dollars) MHS may commence appointment proceedings immediately, appoint by invitation or make no appointment at all.
