About the Role:We are seeking suitably qualified and experienced Registered Midwives Level 2 to join our Centenary Midwifery program (CMP), the Midwifery Group Practice at the Centenary Hospital for Women and Children. Part-time (minimum of 0.84FTE) and full-time positions are available, and 0.5 FTE job share can be considered.
Permanent positions are available to successful applicants and Canberra Health Services offers an attractive relocation package for both international and interstate candidates.
Our Level 2 midwives have a minimum of 4 years clinical experience as a midwife, ideally across the pregnancy, birthing and post natal continuum. An individualised support and guidance plan will be developed to enable our Level 2 midwives to work to their full scope of practice, including: suturing competency (if not already achieved), homebirth facilitation, mentorship of junior midwives, quality improvement initiatives and the full range of clinical and communication skills expected of a CMP Level 2 midwife.
CHWC is a level 6 tertiary centre providing specialised maternity, neonatology and paediatric services for the ACT and surrounding regional areas to approximately 3800 women per year. CHWC is a part of the wider Canberra Health Services which includes Canberra Hospital, North Canberra Hospital, and the University of Canberra Hospital.
The Centenary Midwifery programme encompasses both low and all-risk models of midwifery care. Depending on eligibility, women can choose to birth in the birthing suite, birth centre or their own home.
Our midwives provide holistic and expert care throughout the pregnancy and birth continuum to a capped caseload of women each year and are subject to an additional 40% loading within an annualised salary agreement. Our midwives accrue 7 weeks of annual leave each year.
Reporting to the Clinical Midwifery Manager (CMM), the level 2 Registered Midwife is responsible for providing evidence based, safe and effective midwifery care to women as an accountable primary midwife, supported by an exceptional midwifery team. The programme has a collaborative working arrangement with our obstetric colleagues and our clinical decisions are guided by the ACM National Midwifery Guidelines for consultation and referral, local policies and guidelines and clinical judgement.
We have capacity to accept several midwives who would like to experience the life of a continuity midwife with or without making a permanent commitment. Positions start from 0.5 and flexible working arrangements can be considered. A minimum of a 12 month commitment is required.
