Armidale Maternity Unit services the Armidale community and is the referral service for the Northern Tablelands region.Armidale Maternity operates a Midwifery-led antenatal clinic and supports the high-risk Obstetric clinics.
You will be supported by the midwifery team as well as the Clinical Midwifery Educator.
Midwifery education is provided regularly, and further tertiary education will be supported.We are a close-knit team that values strong relationships, often socialising outside of work to foster camaraderie and collaboration.

You possess excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. You have a proven ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team. You act as an advocate to assist women, and their families/carers make informed decisions. You are able to delegate and supervise aspects of care to RNs and AIMs according to their competence and within their scope of practice. You respond effectively to emergency situations and the changing status of the patient. You utilise the "Australian College of Midwives (ACM) National Midwifery Guidelines for Consultation and Referral" to minimise risks. You are comfortable working with women and families who exhibit challenging behaviours. You demonstrate commitment to work and partner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait, Islander patients and families and employees to enhance health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients. You are committed to the CORE values and the Excellence Framework. You enjoy collaborating with the multi-disciplinary team and accept responsibility for your actions.
