We protect endangered wildlife in iconic regions such as the Kimberley, Cape York, the Top End and Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre.AWC's mission - to deliver effective conservation for all native animal species and their habitats - is achieved by:Operations: delivering effective large-scale land management including fire management, feral animal control, weed control and infrastructure management.Science: delivering a nationally-coherent program of ecological surveys with a focus on monitoring key conservation assets and threats, conducting applied research relevant to wildlife conservation, implementing conservation programs including reintroductions, and providing advice on land management.Fundraising: mobilising finance (primarily, tax deductible donations) from the general public and philanthropists including through effective communication of AWC conservation programs.About the Roles:In the Kimberley, AWC protects wildlife and their habitats across 7 properties and partnership areas, covering 4.3 million hectares; Mornington-Marion Downs and Charnley River - Artesian Range Wildlife Sanctuaries; in partnership with Yulmbu (Kija), Dambimangari and Wilinggin Traditional Owners, Ranger Groups and their representative Aboriginal Corporations and implements conservation management on Yampi Sound Training Area, in collaboration with Dambimangari people under contract with the Commonwealth Department of Defence.Reporting to the Regional Operations Manager (ROM) – North-west, the Regional Project Manager (RPM) will be responsible for the documentation, planning, liaison, drafting submissions and procurement, approval and delivery phases of capital works associated with the remote Kimberley Conservation Hub at Charnley Operations base on Wilinggin Country, Mornington Restoration project at Mornington Operations base on Bunaba Country, and other regional locations as required. In addition, the RPM will assist the ROM with documenting and reporting annual plans, quarterly reports and annual reports to meet reporting requirements. In consultation with the ROM, the RPM will also assist Operations Managers for each of the project sites with other infrastructure and capital projects planning and approval submissions required. The RPM in consultation with the ROM will be available for additional operational activities at each of the service sites and other North-west management areas where required.CRITICAL COMPETENCIES:Excellent planning, organisational and coordination skills, including a demonstrated ability to prioritise and execute a large number of tasks in an efficient manner.Excellent relationship/interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to develop relationships with Traditional Owners, stakeholders both internal and external including field staff, suppliers, contractors, local and state government agencies.A well-developed ability to 'problem solve' and identify and recommend innovative solutions with limited resources.Excellent writing skills, including the demonstrated ability to draft effective approval applications, reports and other correspondence.Strong attention to detail.Advanced ability in using standard business software packages (including Word, email, Excel, MS Project, FULCRUM and Project Management software (Monday.com and Asset Panda)).An interest in the conservation of Australia's wildlife and habitats.Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and independently as required.A willingness to travel to other AWC sanctuaries and locations around Australia as required.A strong work ethic including a willingness to work extended hours and weekends as required and a willingness to work in remote and difficult locations.QUALIFICATIONS:Previous experience in infrastructure and or capital projects and contract administration or a similar role is essential. Previous experience in government project and contract administration will be highly regarded.Experience in delivering innovative and effective solutions is more important than formal qualifications.LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:A valid manual driver's licence with 4WD experience.Police clearance certificate.Inherent requirements of the role: The execution of tasks associated with the position may primarily be office based, however you will be expected to travel to sites located in remote locations and can occasionally work away from an established field base. Whilst on site, the work environment can be outdoors and often in the extremes of weather – hot/cold and wet or dry. On occasion, the work may be physically demanding, requiring heavy muscular activity including lifting and carrying, pushing and pulling loads, bending, climbing and driving a variety of vehicles.
