Join MAGNT as the new Regional Museums Officer!

As the Regional Museums Officer, you will support regional museums and keeping places across the Northern Territory to develop, care for, manage and promote their collections and programs to visitors and the community.
You will also manage a Regional Museums grants program for the Northern Territory, travelling to regional and remote museums across the Northern Territory to deliver workshops throughout the year.

Applications close 11:59pm ACST Sunday the 26 January 2025. Selection Criteria Selection Criteria 1: Relevant (or working towards) tertiary qualifications in art, art history, history or museum studies or experience gained working in a museum or art gallery environment.
* Selection Criteria 2: Sound knowledge and understanding of exhibition development or public programming in a museum, gallery or heritage organisation.
* Selection Criteria 3: Demonstrated experience in collections management including an understanding of the National Standards for Australian Museums & Galleries.
* Selection Criteria 4: Demonstrated proficiency in grant administration and management.
* Selection Criteria 5: Excellent interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with internal teams, as well as engage with a diverse range of stakeholders including from museums, heritage organisations, local and state government bodies.
* Selection Criteria 6: Highly developed oral and written communication skills including the preparation of advice and project reports and the ability to communicate clearly, confidently and to adapt to different audiences.
* Selection Criteria 7: Highly developed time management and organisational skills in order to operate in an environment with competing priorities.
* The Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT) is the Northern Territory's premier cultural organisation.

Our principal facility since 1981 is on Larrakia Land at Bullocky Point in Darwin, home to internationally renowned cultural and scientific collections and research and exhibition programs.

MAGNT also operates the historic Fannie Bay Gaol in Darwin, the Museum of Central Australia incorporating the Strehlow Research Centre in Alice Springs, Megafauna Central and the Alcoota Fossil Bed site north east of Alice Springs.

MAGNT also manages the historic Lyons Cottage on Darwin's Esplanade and the Defence of Darwin Experience at East Point in Darwin.

MAGNT attracts over 300,000 visitors annually to our sites.
