The Red Lily Health Board Aboriginal Corporation (RLHB) is a regional health service that aims to empower Aboriginal people in the West Arnhem region, seeking to address health issues in the community with the long-term vision improving health outcomes by establishing a regional Aboriginal community-controlled model of service delivery.

This position is a key role in the Red Lily Primary Health Care team that provides primary health care to more than a 1000 people in the West Arnhem region. Engagement and collaboration with other communities and teams within Red Lily and beyond will be necessary to ensure that the communities receive high quality services and achieve optimal outcomes.

The Role You will work collaboratively with the remote health centre teams, health service providers and key community stakeholders to ensure high quality best practice comprehensive maternal and women's health services for women living in the West Arnhem service delivery area (not including Maningrida).
You will be part of the Red Lily Primary Health Care team and will coordinate and deliver remote community-based comprehensive Women's health programs and maternity care. This will be achieved through regular remote site visits, and, and a combination of capacity building and management of caseloads where relevant. Coordination with other communities and teams within Red Lily, as well as external clinicians and service providers, will be necessary to ensure that the communities receive high quality services and achieve optimal outcomes.

Responsibilities Improve maternal and women's health by building and maintaining the capacity of primary health care staff in the delivery of comprehensive and culturally safe midwifery and women's health services.Work in collaboration with the remote Primary Health Centre teams to provide a clinical services and care relating to maternal and women's health as directed by the Primary Health Care Director.Monitor the maternal and antenatal program at each remote community utilising KPI data and reporting.Mentor and support the ongoing professional development of primary health care practitioners in the delivery of women's health and maternity care in remote communities; providing clinical oversight and expertise, as it relates client care, and make recommendations for change based on data analysis and evidence-based practice.Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces, with particular reference to the suite of CARPA standard treatment protocol manuals and other relevant NT clinical protocols and standards.Facilitate, promote and provide training to support the delivery of women's health services for primary health care nurses Aboriginal Health Practitioners and midwives.Coordinate the development and provision of culturally appropriate health promotion and health literacy programs to women and their families, with local remote staff and key stakeholders.Participate in the review KPIs, service delivery the Continuous Quality Improvement program.Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.Manage physical resources within an allocated budget for the program.Participate in the development, implementation, and review of the Organisational plan. What you need to be successfulCurrent registration as a Registered Nurse and Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Authority.Extensive knowledge and experience in clinical midwifery and women's health and understanding of development and review process of clinical practice guidelines.Knowledge of Aboriginal maternal and women's health needs and remote primary health care nursing practice.An ability to interact effectively with people of different cultures with a demonstrated understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal health; cultural issues; cultural safety and social determinants issues.Demonstrated experience in development and delivery of education and training to strengthen and sustain a culture of continuous learning.Knowledge and experience in implementation of Primary Health Care programs and the relevant legislation governing work practice in the remote setting.Proven leadership ability and high-level communication skills to effectively engage with a range of stakeholders in the remote primary health care setting.Understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal health, drivers of health inequality, principles of primary health care and relevant legislation governing work practice in the Northern Territory.Eligibility for an NT manual driver's license, willingness and ability to travel on a weekly basis to West Arnhem communities (excluding Maningrida) by either 4x4 or light aircraft and stay for up to a maximum of 4-5 days as required.
