For more information on Special Measures plans, go to the OCPE website.Primary objectiveThe Regional Manager coordinates the work unit's weed management programs across the Katherine Region in accordance with the Weeds Management Act 2001 and relevant procedures and guidelines.Key duties and responsibilitiesProvide advice to the general public, community groups, industry, government agencies, statutory bodies and indigenous organisations in relation to integrated weed management and control methods, weed identification and plant ecology.Educate land managers in relation to their legislative responsibilities under the Weeds Management Act 2001 (the Act), implement monitoring and inspection programs and perform compliance and enforcement duties under the Act as required.Manage personnel and finances in order to ensure work programs are completed in a timely and safe manner in line with departmental business plans, government policy and priorities, legislation, plans, procedures and guidelines.Develop, implement and coordinate national, Northern Territory and regional weed management strategies and plans in line with the department's business plans and priorities as required.Manage and update the regional weed spatial database and provide technical support to staff and community groups for both ground-based and aerial survey programs to ensure the collection of accurate data.Monitor and evaluate weed management plans and external funding projects and provide project reporting to Government agencies, industry and community groups as required.Provide NT Government representation, support and advice on relevant national committees as directed and provide executive support for Katherine Regional Weed Reference Group.Selection criteriaEssentialDegree or equivalent qualification in natural resource management from a recognised academic institution together with extensive experience in this specific field, or that closely related to integrated weed management.Experience in the administration of legislation and regulatory activity, preferably including compliance and enforcement activity.Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of collaborative, multi-stakeholder programs, including the management of personnel and budgets.Demonstrated experience in integrated weed management, plan development, weed identification, and plant ecology.Demonstrated high-level communication skills, both oral and written, in order to deal with complex issues including negotiating strategic and collaborative outcomes with a wide range of stakeholders.The ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.Current NT Driver licence or equivalent.DesirableExperience in the use of Geographic Information Systems.Certificate IV in Government Investigations.Further information: Relocation assistance or allowance may be offered to the successful applicant.#J-18808-Ljbffr
