Make a difference for our furry, scaly, and feathered friends!
As an advocate for animal care and protection, you'll promote and enforce compliance with laws, conduct welfare investigations, and perform diverse animal rescues.
Beyond rescue work, you'll educate communities on animal welfare and manage cases end-to-end—from investigation to prosecution—in this impactful and unique role.
Key ResponsibilitiesBuild positive and productive relationships with community and government stakeholders.Interview witnesses and/or suspects to determine if any laws have been breached.Seize animals in accordance with powers contained in the Animal Care and Protection Act 2001.Transport seized animals to place of care for treatment and/or temporary housing.Collect physical, documentary, photographic, video and scientific evidence.Serve and register summons and other documents.Where applicable, prepare and submit Briefs of Evidence.Attend court and present evidence at mentions, hearings, and other legal actions, in relation to alleged offences against the Animal Care and Protection Act 2001.Provide animal owners with education and advice in relation to responsible pet ownership and basic animal care for animals in their care.About YouExcellent communication, mediation and negotiation skills.A demonstrated commitment to exceptional customer service.Excellent written and computer skills.Good animal handling, health care and welfare experience.Due to the nature of the role, employment is conditional on maintaining a valid current Open Qld Drivers' License.A Queensland Firearms License or the ability to obtain.Certificate IV in Investigations or the ability to obtain.Restricted Drug Authority or the ability to obtain.Ability to travel to Brisbane and other locations in QLD for training or temporary support for other Inspectors.This is a full-time position, 5-day roster, with the occasional weekend and on-call shifts.
The successful candidate may be required to travel to other regions from time to time.
Remuneration package is $69,680.00 base salary plus $5,000 regional allowance, vehicle, iPad, iPhone, and laptop are included as part of the role.
