We now have an exciting opportunity to collaborate across Australian and international markets and provide legal advice to stakeholders at all levels in a fast growing global fintech business. As our Regional Head of Legal, APAC , you will be accountable for all legal matters within the APAC region including leading the Legal team and managing workflow with the business under multiple licenses and in reverse inquiry jurisdictions. The position is responsible for providing legal expertise to grow and protect the business, highlighting business risks and guiding pragmatic, commercial solutions to ensure compliance with relevant legal and regulatory obligations.

This leadership role also plays a pivotal role as a member of the leadership team for the Legal, Compliance & Risk department and will provide strategic and commercially focused advice to achieve Pepperstone's objectives.

As our Regional Head of Legal, APAC, your key responsibilities include, but not limited to :
Leading legal matters for the ASIC and a few international markets licenses, as well as overseeing and advising on reverse inquiry jurisdictions in APACProviding advice on legal and regulatory issues to all levels of the business on financial services regulations and general commercial law matters including privacy and data security, complaints/dispute resolution and litigation management, employment matters, and intellectual propertyReviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts with clients, partners and other key third party service providers. This may include IT, sponsorships, advertising, banking, pricing and payment service providers and a range of challenging multi-faceted project workManaging and partnering closely with senior stakeholders and the business to support timely outcomes and the achievement of strategic objectivesSupporting the Group with local and international regulatory engagement, including managing and responding to regulatory issues, and assisting with submissions to regulatory and government consultations and coordinating the preparation and submission of regulatory license applicationsEffectively lead and grow a small team navigating a complex and evolving global operating environment, including developing and implementing department goals and KPIs to support the Group strategyManage external counsel and legal spend within budgetManaging the Group's / regional company secretariat affairs including minutes and resolutions, and advising Group directors on legal risks and corporate governance matters About You: Senior commercial lawyer with 8+ years' post-admission experience in either a reputable law firm and/or in-house legal teamPrevious experience in Financial markets and/or CFD industryExcellent written and verbal communication skills with the proven ability to influence stakeholders at varying levels and resolve complex problems both strategically and commerciallyAbility to find innovative solutions to complex problems with a commercially focused and hands-on approach.Ability to be flexible with work hours across time zones as requiredAbility to champion the Pepperstone values beyond immediate teamCommitted to ongoing learning and developmentCurrent and full working rights in Australia Why you will enjoy working with us: Competitive salary structure including company bonus schemeGenuinely collaborative and friendly cultureFlexible and hybrid workingRemote working option - work from anywhere for up to 6 weeks per year, in addition to hybrid working as standardOngoing personal development & learning opportunities15 weeks paid primary carers parental leave & 4 weeks paid secondary carers leave3 paid volunteering days per year & Workplace Giving ProgramFrequent events and celebrations including a standard weekly socialBeautifully renovated large office at Collins Square - 727 Collins Street, MelbourneBest in class end of trip facilities including bicycle parking, change rooms & showersA full stocked kitchen, onsite coffee machines with locally sourced coffee beans (this is Melbourne after all) and curated specialty teas More about Pepperstone
