Lunar Outpost Oceania is expanding its leadership team as we continue to establish the company's global presence as an innovator of cutting-edge technologies and proprietary autonomous robotic systems for the space, resources and defence industries. With our team poised to grow from 15 to up to 80 employees over the next 3 years, we are seeking an experienced technology scale-up leader to join our executive team in this new Director-level position. Reporting to the Lunar Outpost Inc. (US-based parent company) CEO, this role will be instrumental in leading our innovation, growth and commercialisation strategies, and will also champion the Australian Space Agency's Roo-ver lunar rover mission, as co-lead of the ELO2 Consortium.Key Responsibilities:Direct and oversee all Oceania activities, liaising with the Lunar Outpost Inc. C-Suite to ensure strategic alignment of regional objectives with global priorities.Develop progressive innovation, funding, growth and commercialisation strategies that will drive the company's immediate and long-term growth.Execute strategic plans at an operational level, and effectively navigate resourcing and cash flow considerations to ensure sustained financial and commercial viability.Collaborate closely with the ELO2 Consortium and Technical Director and partners to ensure successful project execution and maximise the value of partnerships for the Roo-ver mission.Lead a growing team of world-class engineers, operations, business development, and marketing personnel, ensuring high performance and establishing the company as a preferred employer for top quality talent.Represent Lunar Outpost Oceania and the ELO2 Consortium publicly, actively engaging in public relations, media, conferences, panels, podcasts, and industry events.Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, international space and defence organisations, research institutions, and industry and commercial partners, ensuring collaboration and successful partnerships.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's or advanced degree in Engineering, Business, Space Science, or a related field.10+ years of executive leadership experience in the space or related innovation industry, with strong capabilities in both technical and commercial roles.Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans, with a demonstrated history of leading high-performing, multidisciplinary teams to success.Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience working with government agencies, space or defence organisations, research institutions, and industry partners.Experience with public speaking and media engagement, with the ability to communicate technical and business concepts to diverse audiences.Strong commercial acumen with the ability to manage financial performance, and proven experience commercialising and forging new markets for innovative technologies.Must be able to attain and hold NV1 security clearance.Preferred Qualifications:Experience leading space or defence-related consortiums or international collaborations.In-depth knowledge of space exploration missions and technology.Familiarity with the Australian space sector, including its regulatory and commercial landscape, and an understanding of the goals and vision for the Roo-ver mission.Experience working with or within space or defence agencies such as NASA, the Australian Space Agency, Defence Space Command or international equivalents.Experience leading a startup to grow and scale.Lunar Outpost Oceania is an equal opportunity employer.
