Primary objectiveProvide high-level strategic leadership, program management, coordination and high-level advice to executive, government and agencies and stakeholders on the Housing Program Office functions across the Katherine region.
Context statementThis position will undertake a coordinated approach between the Housing Program Office and organisations across the public sector, industry and a range of diverse stakeholders to drive the achievement of regional, departmental and government objectives, within allocated resources for the Katherine region.
Key duties and responsibilitiesProvide strategic leadership to the Housing Program Office Katherine Region unit to achieve Departmental objectives in areas of remote and urban housing, operational property services, contract and asset management and other related housing programs.Provide high-level program management and strategic direction on the remote housing and property maintenance program including the development of policy and strategies to support this program.Provide effective leadership and resource management along with finance and budget management of the team.Investigate and advise on contemporary practices and initiatives that would add value to the overall delivery of remote housing and property maintenance program.Engage with a diverse range of remote housing stakeholders on housing property maintenance initiatives as well as assist the Executive Director Northern Region in taking a lead role in strengthening existing relationships with Australian Government, NT Government, Local Government, Land Councils and Private Sector organisations.Ensure the delivery of the Housing Program Office program maintains best practice standards in all its activities so as to safeguard the public and clients.Selection criteriaEssentialExperience and ability to lead a team to drive the delivery of a large, complex housing infrastructure and property maintenance program in a remote area in particular within Indigenous communities, and within a range of procurement approaches and contract provisions.Ability to provide high-level strategic and operational advice and innovative solutions including consideration of any political, social and organisational influences within a regional context.High-level program and project management skills with a demonstrated capacity to manage large, multi-discipline projects and significant valued contracts.Proven contemporary leadership and management skills to engage teams to consider operational innovative solutions, oversee human resource matters, budget management, performance reporting and business planning initiatives.High-level collaborative skills with the ability to manage, develop and retain strong professional working relationships within a matrix reporting structure and with external stakeholders including community and industry representatives with a focus on developing local organisations.Excellent oral, written and negotiation communication skills, and proven ability to prepare high-level briefings and reports.An understanding of Indigenous affairs and culture with the ability to interact effectively with people of diverse cultures, including ability and willingness to work in remote communities for short periods, travelling to remote locations via four-wheel drive vehicles, light aircraft or other means.DesirableRecognised qualification in Project Management, Business, or other related discipline. #J-18808-Ljbffr
